Saba Rock is a very small island in the North Sound of Virgin Gorda. At about an acre and a half, it’s a tiny island with a charming hotel and restaurant – popular as a stop off for a cocktail and lunch or dinner.
The owners of the island have three pet toucans (Paco, Paz and Pepe) in two large enclosures. Their home has a roof, and essentially wire walls with large ropes and tree branches inside for the toucans to enjoy. They are wonderful to watch, they are so brightly colored and playful together. They are comfortable with people nearby, so it’s a unique opportunity to see such exotic birds first hand.
A water taxi travels between The Bitter End Yacht Club, Leverick Bay and Saba Rock, which makes these three destinations fun to visit while enjoying being out on the water.
This area makes for a great day trip from AnaCapri Estate. Take a ferry over in the morning and back late afternoon. You will also be able to see Mosquito Island (recently purchased by Richard Branson), Eustatia Island, and if you start walking east from The Bitter End Yacht Club you will be able to see the east end of Necker Island (also owned by Richard Branson).
